Saturday’s Amethyst Ball was a fresh take on the country club balls of yesteryear. With a special performance by Opera Delaware, dancing to contemporary music, and remarks by U.S. Senator Chris Coons and Governor Jack Markell, the Limen House fundraiser was replete with excitement and joy as supporters of the non-profit helped raise funds for the 40-year-old non-profit. Held at the Vicmead Hunt Club, the evening also included a silent auction, passed hors d’oeuvres, and moving words by Horizon Services owner Mark Aitken, who asked guests to take more time to consider the plight and address the needs of the homeless in our community.  The Limen House provides temporary housing and support to adults recovering from alcoholism and drug dependency who hope to re-enter society.
