The second annual Delaware Donor Dash drew some 250 runners and walkers to Dravo Plaza on Saturday, including top finishers Mike O’Brian (16:20), a New Balance employee at Christiana Mall, and Maryland high schooler Emma Himiden (21:14). Sponsored by the Gift of Life Donor Program, Saturday’s race helped raise about $43,000 and helped increase awareness about the need for more registered organ and tissue donors. The event included a special international shoe recycling drop-off program — all types of shoes were acceptable — where the Gift of Life Donor Program receives a donations for used shoes.
