The Cancer Support Community of Delaware hosted a “Survivors Rock” block party earlier this month for the exhausted but proud participants of the day’s 16-mile relay walk. Some 75 people trekked for hours in the Survivors Across Sussex relay — a few walked the entire distance! — to raise funds for the non-profit and celebrate cancer survivorship. June 13th was one of the hottest days of the summer, making their efforts all the more remarkable. But the finish line at 16 Mile Brewery was sweet, with live music, food trucks, vendors, games and a house-made specialty brew for the thirsty hikers. Walkers and party-goers helped raise $8,500 for the non-profit. With centers in New Castle, Kent and Sussex counties, CSCDE provides services and support to people with cancer and their caregivers at no charge.
