paticPati Candelario, a second-year Teach For America corps member at Seaford High School, was recently announced one of 16 semi-finalists selected nationally for Teach For America’s prestigious teaching award from a pool of 5,000 – a huge honor for her and on behalf of her students. Pati has a joyous relentlessness. Her belief in her kids  is unwavering -inward fight/outward smile.  Her students say she makes them feel anything is possible. Because it is.

Other teachers too had an excellent year– three  were nominated for teacher of the year at their school, another received recognition as best teacher for middle school, and another for special education. One nonprofit organization was started to support low-income middle school students’ access into high performing Delaware high schools, and three school leaders are about to take in their first classes. All of this progress reflects outstanding school partners statewide committed to outstanding Delaware scholars.
