IMG_2589Beer:30 might be the Blue Rocks’ best-kept secret. At least until now.

Maybe the overcast weather had something to do with it, but last Thursday, an underwhelming amount of people showed up to the Dogfish Head happy hour promotion at Frawley Stadium. They missed out!

In a new event this year, the Delaware brewery is partnering with the Blue Rocks every Thursday home game to serve $3 beers from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the first-base picnic area (to the left of Chickie’s and Pete’s).

With a group of friends, the event was fun despite the gloomy weather—you can’t beat quality drinks that don’t break the bank and table seats with a great view. And to cap it off, the Blue Rocks, despite an eventual rain delay in the sixth inning, triumphed over the Frederick Keys with a final score of 7-5.

IMG_2594Two things of note: There were two bartenders but only one bottle opener, which slowed the purchasing process. I’m sure they’ll have two the next time around.

Also, the Dogfish Head offerings were three or four IPAs and their Aprihop brew. Not all of Dogfish Head’s IPAs are, for lack of better words, overpoweringly IPA-ish (read: bitter), but for those who prefer less-hoppy beverages, Miller Lite, Bud Light and wine were also available for $2.

Dogfish Head’s website says its 60 and 90 Minute IPAs will be event staples, and then other seasonals, like Festina Peche, Namaste, and Punkin Ale, will be offered as they’re available.

IMG_2593Here’s the Beer:30 schedule for the rest of the baseball season, and the seasonal beers to be tentatively offered:

June 25 – Namaste
July 2 – Festina Peche
July 9 – Festina Peche
July 16 – Namaste
Aug. 13 – Namaste
Aug. 20 – Namaste
Sep. 3 – Punkin Ale
