The 2015 JDRF Delaware annual black-tie gala was certainly one for the record books! Some 350 guests felt like they were in the winners’ circle at the Louisville races at this year’s Hope Ball: Derby After Dark. The derby-themed party at the Chase Center on the Riverfront included dinner, dancing, bourbon tasting, and of course a thoroughbred race horse! And for the first time, JDRF threw a late night party for guests who had the stamina to boogie a little longer. The JDRF presented a champion award to one of their favorite elected officials — former Delaware Governor and United States Representative Mike Castle. Castle has attended the Hope Ball for many years and he worked to secure federal funding to advance T1D research. This year’s event raised $240,000 for type 1 diabetes research.
