Spectators and tailgaters couldn’t have ordered up a better day for the annual Point-to-Point races. Yesterday’s picture perfect day drew 16,000 people to the grounds of Winterthur Museum, Garden and Library for thrillingĀ races, throwback horse-drawn carriages, a parade of antique and Rolls Royce cars, cold champagne and beautiful bonnets. It’s Wilmington’s biggest outdoor party of the year, where friends enjoyĀ simple picnics on the lawn orĀ lavish tailgates at spots dotted around the race course. And party-goers dress their best to fit the occasion. “This is a special Wilmington tradition that we look forward to every year,” said attendee Carmen Martinez, bedecked in a lovely game-day ensemble. “It is the highlight of spring and the perfectĀ way to enjoy a spring afternoon with friends.”
