Beautiful Saturday in early May. Funky good food trucks. Dozens donning the gear of their favorite super heroes/villains. Star Wars guys too. And roller girls. And, of course … free comic books! What could be better?Hundreds of new comic book collectors, long-timers and the just plain curious came out to Newark’s Captain Blue Hen Comics and Entertainment (indeed) this past weekend to chat up like-minded enthusiasts and show off their Marvel and DC Comics finery. Those who planned ahead bearing donated canned goods or waving a library card — or simply cooled their jets in line that moved rather nicely — earned the right to an excellent selection of free comic books. Captain Blue Hen knows how to do it right.

For our part, TSD is enjoying our new Guardians of the Galaxy, Avatar and Young Justice mags. What a day!
