Carla and Jack Markell exhibited keen acting skills in their engaging performance of Love Letters at the Delaware Theatre Company on November 16th.
In fact, it was Carla Markell who came up with the idea to take center stage with her husband Governor Jack Markell at the DTC’s annual fundraiser. “Carla called me and suggested that she and Jack would consider doing something extraordinary to help the DTC this year, and we were delighted they offered to star in this popular, Pulitzer Prize-nominated play,” said DTC Executive Director Bud Martin.
The one-night performance, which included a witty performance of Hamlet by the DTC’s Totally Awesome Players and a member of Ingleside Assisted Living, was enjoyed by hundreds of theatregoers who shared a catered pre-show dinner as well as a special on-stage dessert following the production.
The event, co-chaired by DuPont CEO Ellen Kullman and Michael Kullman as well as Tatiana and Gerret Copeland, included a spirited live auction, helping establish this particular event as one of the most successful in recent memory.
