Proud supporters of the Delaware chapter of the JDRF and friends and family of those afflicted by diabetes walked for 3 and 1/2 miles around Wilmington’s Rockford Park on Sunday. The Walk to Cure Diabetes is one of the largest events of its kind in the area. This year, Delmarva Power formed a walking team, becoming the largest registered team at the event with 80 walkers in all. But even smaller teams had lots to brag about. The Tower Hill teenagers in the Hillers for a Cure team might otherwise  catch some shuteye on a typical Sunday morning, but they turned out for their friend Maddie Schwartz, who was diagnosed with the disease in middle school. “It means a lot to me that so many friends walked with me,” remarked Maddie.
