The National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) of Delaware will take a tour of the Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay’s new STEM facility on Friday, 10/4. According to the GSCB, “Women are underrepresented in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math, collectively referred to as “STEM.” Women’s representation is low at all levels in STEM, from interest and intent to majoring in a STEM field in college, to having a career in a STEM field in adulthood. Studies show that girls lose interest in math and science during middle school, and STEM interest for girls is low, compared to boys.”
Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay (GSCB) is a STEM Champion for their strong advocacy initiatives and high-level programming. Younger girls enjoy hands-on fun. Older girls will also have exposure to STEM careers and professional women in the field.
