The tenth running of the Delaware Marathon was fittingly one for the books! Local runners Lydia Carrick won the women’s marathon in 2:52:11, shattering the previous record, and Darryl Brown won the men’s half-marathon in 1:13:56. The morning’s races included the full marathon (26.2 miles), the half-marathon (13.1), the four-person relay (6.55 each) and the eight-person relay (3.275 each). Saturday’s storms gave way to sunny skies Sunday, and the crowd and participants were all smiles as they enjoyed BBQ from Two Fat Guys and cocktails from Frank’s Wine’s Champagne Garden! Proceeds from the event benefit the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training, Girls on the Run, the Mike Clark Legacy Foundation, JDRF and the YMCA of Delaware.
