February’s not normally a popular month for 5K races, but last weekend’s Community 5K for Officer Justin Wilkers drew more than 1,000 participants on a chilly, windy day. Officer Wilkers, who was shot in the face while responding to a call in the Southbridge section of Wilmington on February 3rd, attended the race with his wife, Juliet, who ran and handed out awards to winners. Proceeds from the event, which included a silent auction at Kelly’s Logan House, benefit the Delaware Hero Fund for law enforcement families facing tough times.
