Bourbon Street Chocolate Banana Cake, Grande Marnier Truffles and Triple Chocolate Bypass Cupcakes each were blue ribbon winners at the Chocolate Lovers Festival in Kennett Square, PA, this past weekend. But there was so much more… Mouth-watering brownies, cookies, chocolate-dipped pretzels and other creations. The event, organized by the United Way of Southern Chester County, included a chocolate contest — with professional, amateur and student categories — as well as a tasting, which was open to the public. 1,360 people sampled to their hearts content, and the United Way of SCC raised $9,000. “We were thrilled at the turnout, which was double what we expected,” said Carrie Freeman, executive director of United Way of SCC. “Thankfully, we never ran out of samples. Bakers and chocolatiers were incredibly generous with their chocolate donations.”
