The Delaware Division of Historical and Cultural Affairs is seeking volunteers to help save Delaware history as part of the 2013 Governor’s Week of Service that will take place from Jan. 11 to 21, 2013. For additional information, contact volunteer services coordinator Kellie Mullarkey at 302-736-7411 or kellie.mullarkey@state.de.us.  The following volunteer opportunities are available:

Mon, Jan 14, Noon to 3 pm, and Wed, Jan 16, 10 am to 1 pm: “Planting Delaware’s Future.”  Work in the greenhouse of one of Delaware’s most historic homes. Three to four volunteers needed to help start bulbs that will be planted in the spring. Buena Vista Conference Center, 661 S. Dupont Highway (Route 13), New Castle, DE 19720. 10 a.m.–1 p.m. Pre-registration required.

Thu, Jan 17: Volunteer Open House. Prospective volunteers can learn about possible opportunities, meet with current volunteers, enjoy light refreshments, take a tour of the museum and watch a performance that provides an example of the kinds of services that the Division of Historical and Cultural Affairs provides to the public. The performance, a historical re-enactment entitled “The Doctor’s Are In,” tells the story of two prominent doctors from Delaware’s history. The Old State House Museum, 25 The Green, Dover, DE 19901. 5–7:30 p.m. Free and open to the public.
