This past Homecoming Weekend, Salesianum students, graduates and friends paid tribute to one of their own at a 5K run/walk honoring fallen New Castle County police officer Lt. Joseph Szczerba (’85). Hundreds turned out for the inaugural event, including Governor Markell and Senator Coons. A scholarship fund has been established in Joe’s name, and proceeds from the 5K will provide tuition assistance to the sons of police officers and first responders who attend Salesianum.
