TSD: Delaware’s best take on events, community and local life

The Wilmington Renaissance Corporation (WRC) will offer free fitness activities at the 2012 Downtown Fall Fitness Fest in Rodney Square on Saturday, Nov. 3 from noon to 3 p.m. The family-friendly event will emphasize the importance and benefit of health and wellness while promoting family activity. Families can participate in Zumba, lacrosse, cycling, basketball, tennis and soccer as well as other fun activities such as a moon bounce, hayride, and obstacle course. In addition, the festival will feature three hours of free, live music by area teen bands presented by Accent Rock School. The bands performing are; Deff Llama, Crash Course, Moment of Truth, the Remnants, and Wicked Wayz. Attendees will also receive coupons for downtown merchants and restaurants to enjoy shopping or dining in Downtown Wilmington.

Children representing a school or non-profit organization can participate in the AstraZenenca Challenge for a chance to win a $500 cash prize for that school or organization. The group with the most participants who complete the challenge will win $500. The event is also sponsored in part by the Christiana Care Health System, City of Wilmington, DuPont, Highmark Delaware, Out & About Magazine, Downtown Visions, Herr Foods Inc., the Grand Opera House and ShopRite.
