The region’s only 15k celebrated its thirtieth year on Sunday, with the running of the Delaware Distance Classic on the Wilmington Riverfront. Nearly 400 runners braved the threat of rain showers (which held off until after the race) for the 9.3 mile race and, new this year, a 3.1 mile option. Presented by the Pike Creek Valley Running Club, the annual race is the 15K championship for the USATF-Mid-Atlantic Road Race Circuit and draws runners from the Delaware Valley and beyond. All proceeds from the Classic benefit the Pike Creek Valley Running Club, the B+ Foundation and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Delaware in memory of Mike Clark.
