More than 10,000 people traversed State Street in Kennett Square on September 7, 8 and 9 for the 27th annual Mushroom Festival. The festival included over 200 vendors, crafts, cooking demonstrations, a mushroom soup cook-off, and an old-fashioned carnival. Proceeds from the sale of admission wristbands supported the Mushroom Festival’s grant program, which last year awarded $55,000 to 33 non-profit organizations. Incredibly, Kennett Square grows 65% of our nation’s mushroom crop.
