TSD: Delaware’s best take on events, community and local life
Summer is drawing to a close, so this is the time to get out and play! Brandywine Creek State Park is the perfect park for all your outdoor activities, from canoeing and fishing to hiking and mountain biking.
This 933-acre park is divided by grey stone walls built of local stone in the late 1800’s. At that time the property was a dairy farm owned by the DuPont family. This unique area became a state park in 1965, one of the first parks in the nation to be purchased with Land and Water Conservation Funds.

The park maintains 14 miles of trails for fitness, wildlife observation, and photography. For the perfect run, try the Rocky Run Trail or the Greenways Trail that wind along the creek. The open fields are excellent for picnics, kite flying, and disc golf.

Anglers can fish for small mouth bass, bluegill, and crappie in Brandywine Creek and for trout in Wilsons Run. (A fishing license and trout stamp are required). Canoeing and tubing are also popular ways to experience the Brandywine.

To learn more about the park and special programs, visit Brandywine Creek State Park or call (302) 655-5740.  (the park is only 5 minutes from Greenville!)

We hope you enjoy the wonderful weather and all the great events in Wilmington!

The Farmer & The Chef
Thursday, September 20 at 5:30pm-8:30pm

The Farmer & The Chef: Good time, good food, good cause.

The March of Dimes and The Delaware Department of Agriculture have teamed up to present the 5th annual The Farmer and The Chef. The event is a fundraiser for the March of Dimes, with proceeds going directly to the March of Dimes, scheduled for September 20, 2012 at the Chase Center on the Riverfront in Wilmington.

The premise of the event is simple, pair local farmers with local chefs. While the event is a fundraiser for the March of Dimes, we are also helping to create sustainable relationships between local farmers and chefs, while reinforcing the movement of eating healthy which is something the March of Dimes believes in and promotes to women who are considering pregnancy.

The event itself will feature local farmers who will provide their product to chefs who will then prepare tasting samples to all event attendees using this product.
Attendees will also be able to cast their vote for their favorite dish. Included in the evening’s festivities are a silent auction and basket auction.

NEW this year – to help celebrate our 5th anniversary we are having a Winner’s Challenge featuring past winners of the People’s Choice award. This Challenge will be judged by our celebrity panel. This promises to be exciting!

Be sure to visit the Farmer and Chef sections of the site on a regular basis to see who will be part of the event this year!
