The city’s own farmers’ market, Cools Spring Farmers’ Market, has returned to Wilmington for a second season. The Market, located at North Van Buren & Park Place, is open on Thursdays from 4 to 8 pm through October and features the best local produce, plants, grass-fed meats, baked goods and prepared food, as well as live entertainment and activities for children.
The Market is operated by Bright Spot Ventures, a social enterprise model managed by youth clients from the West End Neighborhood House and in partnership with the Delaware Department of Agriculture. The Market hosts 14 local vendors, including Kalmar Farms, Fifer Orchards, Big Sky Bread, Chapel’s County Creamery and Mama’s in the Kitchen, as well as a different live entertainer each week. In their efforts to promote local access to fresh and healthy food for everyone, SNAP/EBT benefits are now accepted at the Market.
