IMAX is coming to Wilmington!

 

Just when you thought things couldn’t get any more interesting in Wilmington, on June 14th officials broke ground for the city’s first IMAX theatre. Penn Cinema’s 15-screen, ultra-modern theatre will be constructed on the Riverfront over the next five months. The first full-length feature on the IMAX screen will be the 23rd James Bond film, Skyfall.

Life Without Limits 5K

On July 14, 2012, United Cerebral Palsy of Delaware, Inc. (UCP) will host the “Life Without Limits” 5k walk/run at Dravo Plaza at Riverfront Wilmington.  The event is for those who run, walk, or roll.

All proceeds from the event will benefit UCP’s Camp Manito and Camp Lenape.For over 50 years, Camp Manito has provided children and young adults with disabilities the opportunity to enjoy the wonderful experience of summer camp.  Camp Manito and Camp Lenape serve children with disabilities as well as children without disabilities, allowing for a rich integrative experience for all campers.

Please join us on July 14th  as we walk, run, and roll to benefit individuals with disabilities in our community and support them in living their lives without limits!

In the spirit of Wilmington’s popular City Restaurant Week, the inaugural Wilmington Beer Week is a city-wide celebration of food and beer, featuring more than 50 brews.

The 15 participating restaurants include Chelsea Tavern, Columbus Inn, Deep Blue, Domaine Hudson, Harry’s Seafood Grill, Piccolina Toscana, Union City Grille, Vinoteca 902, Washington Street Ale House, World Café Live at The Queen, Kid Shelleens, Dead Presidents, The Green Room at Hotel DuPont, Walter’s Steakhouse and Iron Hill Brewery.

Firefly Music Festival, Dover, DE

Firefly Music Festival is the East Coast’s premier music experience. Firefly offers three days of unforgettable musical performances, enhanced dining options and interactive entertainment set among lush wooded landscapes in the heart of the East Coast.

Firefly welcomes over 40 of rock and popular music’s biggest acts to The Woodlands, an immaculate 87-acre festival ground surrounded by lush forest. Centrally located in Dover, Delaware and steps from shopping, hotels, gaming and restaurants, The Woodlands are the ideal backdrop for the East Coast’s new summer tradition.

Bands in the lineup include The Killers, Jack White, The Black Keys, John Legend and Death Cab for Cutie among many others. Single day tickets are still available.

Under the Stars Rooftop Movie Series
Every Tuesday through August 28th 

  

  

   

A series of Steven Spielberg films being shown on the rooftop deck of the ShopRite- Christina Riverfront on Tuesday nights from July 10th to August 28th.  The “roof” opens at 7:30 pm, with the films starting at dusk- approximately 8:45 pm.  There is no rain date. 

 Ticket prices are $5 for ages 12 & up, $3 for ages 2- 11 years and children under 2 free.

ShopRite will have food available for purchase- grilled hot dogs, hamburgers, soft ice cream & movie theatre concessions such as popcorn and candy.  Beer and wine will also be available for purchase.

July 24: War Horse (2011), rated PG-13,
