Despite one of the hottest Independence Days in recent memory, there was a terrific turnout for the annual Hockessin 4th of July Parade, sponsored again by the Hockessin-Greenville Rotary Club.

The A.I DuPont High School marching band, local karate clubs and the School of Rock all performed, and there were plenty of opportunities to shake hands with folks running for office, including Governor Jack Markell, U.S. Sen. Tom Carper, Congressman John Carney, Tom Kovach — candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives — and State Representative Greg Lavelle, among others.

Car enthusiasts, Boy Scout troops and local retailers also took part. And despite the heat, kids were happy with all the candy they scooped up!
