Student leaders from eight high schools throughout Delaware gathered early on Sunday, May 27th, to put the finishing touches on the Race for A Better Delaware– a leadership and service initiative they worked on all spring as a part of the Delaware Youth Leadership Youth Race Board. This student-run and organized race is the only one of it’s kind in Delaware. Some 300 runners, walkers and volunteers launched the race at Big Fish Grill on the WIlmington Riverfront. In addition to the 5K Run/Walk, the race featured a moon bounce, photography by DYL Youth Board Member Chris Klemens (Tatnall) and performances by high school students, including Rachel Mink (Charter School of Wilmington), Elise Brown (Tatnall), and a joint performance by Claudia Long and Kendra Riley (Tatnall).
