How do you serve up tennis to 800 hungry kids? With more than 50 volunteers and lots of planning! “Tennis in the Streets” has grown considerably since its inception 17 years ago. Held each year on Rodney Square, the all-morning festival includes food, entertainment and tennis fun. Last Friday, students from 12 city schools had a ball — volleying with pros and learning tennis basics. Thirty lucky children will earn one-week camp scholarships with Wilmington’s Rodney Street Tennis & Tutoring Association this summer.  Hosts included the U.S. Professional Tennis Association of Delaware, USTA Middle States Delaware and Wilmington Department of Parks and Recreation. “This is my favorite tennis event of the year,” remarked tennis pro and event coordinator Jackie Roe. “And the scholarships are an exciting opportunity for deserving youngsters to continue with tennis following “Tennis in the Streets.”
