With sunny skies and warm temps worthy of Mothers’ Day, 3,000 runners hit the streets of Wilmington for the 9th Annual Delaware Marathon Running Festival on Sunday. The race offered something for every level of runner: Marathon, half marathon, four-person relay (10K each) and eight-person relay (5K each). New to this year’s Festival was a kids’ Fun Run and a post-race Champagne Garden, courtesy of marathoner and wine enthusiast Frank Pagliaro. All leftover refreshments went to From Our Kitchen, a local nonprofit that serves meals to the homeless each Sunday. Proceeds from the event benefit Christiana Care’s Center for Heart & Vascular Health and the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center, as well as the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training, Girls on the Run Delaware, the Epilepsy Foundation of Delaware and the Mike Clark Legacy Foundation.
