The Sanford School in Hockessin was the site of plenty of Lego innovation and creativity on Saturday. The Junior First Lego League tournament included 15 teams of elementary students from area schools, who were challenged to develop “snack attack” food-themed projects using legos and robots. Teams from multiple local schools such as Pike Creek Christian, Odyssey Charter, Wilson Elementary and even a home school from New Jersey showed great originality, leadership, efficiency, and brilliant use of color as they developed cupcake and cookie bakeries, dairy farms and more. Teams had four months to develop their concept and practice the construction. “We love participating but also seeing what everyone else makes,” said Sanford second grader Meg Macauley.
