As owners of Buckley’s Tavern in Centreville, we are aware that recent news reports may have TownSquareDelaware readers wondering about the future of this special, historic restaurant and pub. We want to assure all of our loyal customers that a new and better Buckley’s will re-open in 2012.
Our families have owned Buckley’s for many years. It truly is a local treasure and beloved community meeting place. However, every restaurant experience risks losing its charm unless periodically upgraded, and it is well past the time that Buckley’s be refreshed and updated. Our aim is to embark on a range of comprehensive renovations that will continue to delight our loyal patrons by balancing the special historic atmosphere with much-needed improvements to the 100+ year old facility.
These renovations will require us to temporarily close Buckley’s for the early part of 2012 with a target re-opening in the spring. We have also made the decision to bring in new management of the restaurant after a more than twenty-year relationship with the current operators and are working through the transition in a careful and private way.
It is our intention to ensure that Buckley’s has the absolute best management team and chef and we are currently talking to a number of interested potential operators. We are excited about the future of Buckley’s and convinced that all our patrons will be thrilled with the long-overdue improvements to their favorite local watering hole. Stay tuned for an update in early 2012!
