TSD: Delaware’s best take on events, community and local life

For seven years, the St. Patrick’s Day Society has awarded scholarships in honor of the late Father Jim Trainor, long-time pastor of St. Patrick’s Church in Wilmington. The scholarships are presented to graduating 8th graders of city parochial schools to help fund their continued education at local Catholic high schools. This past Friday, November 11, honored students and family members, the Society and many generous friends and supporters including Bishop Francis Malooly, Salesianum School President Brendan Kennealey, Society Co-Chair Joe Farley and Scholarship Chairman Mike Hare enjoyed a celebratory luncheon at the Chase Center on the Riverfront. Since creating the scholarship, the Society has assisted more than 40 students and raised $225,000. Donations can be directed C/O Mike Hare, 107 E. 14th St. Wilmington, DE 19801.
