The rolling hills of Greenville’s beautiful and historic Winterthur Estate were the scene for this past weekend’s New Castle County HS Cross Country Championships. The NCCo races are unique in that all county schools compete, which means that the regions very best runners – regardless of their school size or division – competed for the crown.
This year’s event featured some of the best runners in the country, including Haley Pierce of Tatnall and the Charter School of Wilmington’s Julie Macedo. Yet it was Regan Anderson of a perenially strong Tatnall team who took top honors in the girl’s division, with Sam Parson of Tatnall defending his championship on the boy’s side. Tatnall School prevailed as both girls and boys team champions. Both teams are nationally ranked (the girls are #3 in the country).
