Although you might not have realized it, performance art is prevalent throughout Delaware. This week’s Delaware Five features events throughout venues all over the state, including a jazz festival in Wilmington and outdoor performances in Selbyville.

1. The DuPont Clifford Brown Jazz Festival

When: Monday 6/20 through Sunday 6/26

Where: Downtown Wilmington, Rodney Square

Who: City of Wilmington

Why: The DuPont Clifford Brown Jazz Festival is a week-long festival with outdoor performances. This a great  opportunity to visit downtown Wilmington and listen to music.

How Much: Admission is Free.

 

 

2. The Kenya Safari Acrobats

When: Thursday 6/20, 7:oo p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Where: 31570 Lakeview Drive, Selbyville, DE 19975

Who: The Freeman Stage

Why: The Freeman Stage is an outdoor performing arts venue which hosts various events throughout the year. This week’s performance is an nationally recognized group of acrobats.

How much: Admission is free.

 

 

3. Blueberry Peak Party

When: Saturday, 6/18

Where: 1919 Allabands Mill Rd, Wyoming, DE 19934

Who: Fifer Orchards

Why: This party celebrates blueberry crops and their peak season during the summer months. Those who attend can expect to learn about how to prepare food using the fruit and receive discounts to purchase them. There will be hay rides, face painting and an animal garden for children.

How much: Admission is Free.

 

 

 

4. Delaware Breakwater Kayak Trips

When: Begins 6/18, 10 a.m. to noon.

Where: 15099 Cape Henlopen Dr., Lewes 19958

Who: Cape Henlopen State Park

Why: These trips are not only designed for beginners, but they also provide an opportunity to get outdoors and exercise. Equipment is provided and restrictions can be found here.

How much: $25 for solo kayak and $35 for tandem. Children under 18 must be accompanied by a paying adult. Preregistration is required.

 

 

5. Clear Space Theater Company Show Openings

When: Begins 6/21

Where: 20 Baltimore Avenue, Rehoboth Beach, 19971

Who: Clear Space Theater Company

Why: The Clear Space Theater Company offers a variety of shows, which begin this week this season including Chicago and a performance called Words & Music by Gershwin. During the opening week, both Words & Music and 100 Years Through Broadway will be on  stage.

How much: Tickets range from $5-25.
