Emperor of Fun and Games with Raymond Entertainment and the original Phillie Phanatic ('78-'93).

I have been excited about the opportunity to post a column in the Town Square. It is brand new and a chance for me to share with you the value and power of fun. My problem however was how to get started so forgive me if it isn’t what you might expect from a self proclaimed professional idiot.

I received a blind connection through LinkedIn the other day asking me what on earth does an Emperor of Fun and Games do. This person thought of himself as a “Funster” (he was involved in sports entertainment) and wanted to know what I actually did for a living? Good question, as I am constantly asking myself the same, so it was an opportunity to answer for myself as much as it was for him. I told him that a great part of being the Emperor of Fun and Games for Raymond Entertainment and The Fun Department was that my job responsibilities were really up to me at any given moment and that I can’t get downsized or fired unless, of course, I fire myself. On a side note I can’t argue very effectively for a raise either. But what I really do is sell Fun. Powerful fun that not only has bottom line revenue results for our clients but makes employees happier and healthier at the same time!  I went on to tell him that we are in the unique position of selling a healthy and productive product that make us happy almost every moment we are in the office.

So what will I be discussing with you in the coming months here at my Town Square post? How you can harness the Power of Fun at work and at home. It really is simple to do but incredibly difficult to master. Here is your first tip…when you wake up tomorrow decide that above all you will smile more that you frown and laugh more than you cry. When you get home at night you will talk to your loved ones about all the things that went well before you bring up the things that didn’t and ask them to do the same. Try it and I promise that you will be a Funster before you know it!
