Wear Red and Eat for Free at Local Restaurants

Christiana Care Internal Medicine Residency physicians Linda Bernard, Julia Hiner, Pam Bailey, Rosie Musheno and Katelyn Fritzges wear red for women’s heart health day 2017

If you’re planning to dine out this Friday, February 2, be sure to throw on your favorite red clothes because you’ll enjoy free heart-healthy menu items in celebration of “Wear Red Day” at participating area restaurants.

Select area restaurants including Pizza by Elizabeth’s in Greenville and Firebirds Wood Fired Grill in Newark are joining Christiana Care Health System to raise awareness of the American Heart Association’s push for women’s heart health and heart-healthy living. Women across the nation will be wearing red on Friday to show their support for the awareness of heart disease and strokes among their gender.

Diners bedecked in red and eating on site at one of the participating restaurants will receive a free heart-healthy menu item of the restaurant’s choice.  Supporters are encouraged to let their server know they are wearing red to celebrate Wear Red Day.

Shoppers can also select special heart healthy gifts from Edible Arrangements, located at 4563 Kirkwood Highway and at 824 N. Market Street, who are offering 20 percent off any product in the store to anyone wearing red and making a purchase on Wear Red Day.

The promotion does not just extend to women: men wearing red are also eligible to receive the free menu item.
