After postponing and moving the event because of rain, Serviam Girls Academy held their 4th annual Golf Classic on October 23rd at Fieldstone Golf Club. And pretty much everyone was able to juggle their schedules to play a round of golf on the new date.
After a full day on the links, golfers relaxed and enjoyed cocktails on the beautiful patio overlooking the golf course and visited the silent auction table while officials tallied up scores to present awards. Members of the group Kristen and the Noise also performed live for guests. After the awards presentation, guests enjoyed a tasty buffet dinner.
This is one of the important fundraisers of the year for the school, which receives no public funding. Serviam Head of School Peggy Heins expressed the school’s gratitude to the 100 golfers and their friends who supported the event again this year. “Your investment is a worthy one,” she said. “Ninety percent of our graduates who are college age are in college, and 98% of our girls are graduating from high school on time. The state average is 85%.” Those remarks drew applause from the audience. “It means a lot to us that you are here to support us.”
