The Ursuline Academy community took part in a groundbreaking ceremony yesterday to kick off construction of a new Student Life Center, which will replace the Ursuline Convent. Students, faculty, capital campaign chairpersons and top donors celebrated the milestone, which will transform the former residential space into an area that will help the all-girls academy meeting the growing needs of their student population.
The convent will be renovated to make way for state-of-the-art learning spaces, dining facilities, a library and student atrium.
“The convent, that has been the conerstone of our campus, where our sisters once lived and served our community so well, will now be converted into a state-of-art student center for future generations of Ursuline students,” said Cathie Field Lloyd, President of Ursuline Academy. “This vision now becomes a reality because of the generosity of donors who share in the spirit of St. Angela Merici.”
