Agave Mexican Cuisine ~ Coming Back for More

Agave Mexican Cuisine, located in nearby Chadds Ford, started serving its authentic Mexican Fare earlier this year, and its clientele has been growing steadily since.Adjacent the Chadds Ford Post Office, Agave shares a parking lot that was near to full when we visited on a recent Friday evening. Agave typically only takes reservations for parties of 6 or more; however, our party of 5 was seated with little wait. The large, open dining room bustled enough to be kid-friendly, but was cozy and attractive enough for couples, too. Its rustic-chic decor feels fresh and modern but seems right at home in this area of the historic township. The restaurant is BYOB and most diners did, from what I could tell.

We enjoyed nibbling on homemade tortilla chips with green tomatillo sauce as we perused the extensive menu. And our knowledgeable waiter helped as we narrowed our choices. They included a Quinoa salad appetizer (ample and excellent); the obligatory nachos (not overly cheesy!); fried ravioli; a spicy shrimp dish; and tacos — both pork and short-rib.

The dessert menu also had a nice variety, and was enticing enough that we ordered one of each.

The eatery is a new venture for the owners of Spasso Italian Grill in Media, PA, and it’s evident that this new restaurant has some experience behind it. The staff move briskly without rushing; the offerings are expansive without overwhelming; and the setting is casual without being commonplace. A short, scenic ride from Wilmington via Routes 52 and 100 gets you there easily! Visit them in person or online at agavebyo.com.
