Exercising for Fun at 'Prevention Field Day'

Brandywine Counseling & Community Services hosted a Prevention Field Day last month, turning exercise, wellness, and team building into a heck of a lot of fun for about 50 Wilmington youth. Teams of kids were led by skilled mentors who helped guide them through a variety of activities — such as touch football, Frisbee, sack races — at Justison Landing on the Riverfront. The mentors included some incredibly strong people — police officers and instructors from CrossFit Riverfront and FightFit, who encouraged the teens to elevate their games and participate in some challenging activities. BCCS staff also discussed substance abuse prevention techniques and led activities on underage and binge drinking and responsible drinking for those 21 and over.
