Fun New Shops in Store for Christiana Mall

ChristianaMallChristiana Mall has been a work in progress since 2007, and in its latest phase of renovation, it’ll add a bunch of new retailers – from Kate Hudson’s Fabletics to the classic body products shop Kiehl’s – and will expand several stores by the end of this year.

There’s a reason Christiana Mall is a major shopping destination, aside from the perk of being tax-free: It now boasts 35,000 square feet of exterior restaurant space with five eateries, and the mall as a whole is about 1.3 million square feet, said Steve Chambliss, the mall’s senior general manager.

Big milestones for the mall include the food court opening in 2009, Target arriving in 2010, Nordstrom in 2011, and Cinemark and Cabela’s in 2014. With all of those additions, Chambliss said, the mall has seen significant increases in sales volume and number of shoppers. He estimated that 20 million shoppers visit Christiana Mall annually.

Here’s a look at what’s in store for mall changes by the end of 2015.

New retailers:

Deja Vu/BioXAge, a high-end, specialty cosmetics store, will open a 1,469-square-foot location between Target and JCPenney in late 2015. Deja Vu offers skin care, beauty, and spa products enriched with minerals directly from the Dead Sea.

eddiebEddie Bauer will open a new 3,800-square-foot store this fall in the Nordstrom wing. Eddie Bauer offers premium-quality outerwear, clothing, footwear, gear and accessories for men, women, and kids.

Fabletics, Kate Hudson’s activewear line, will open a 2,200-square-foot location this fall in the Nordstrom wing. Fabletics provides activewear for men and women in a variety of styles.

The Art of Shaving will open a 585-square-foot store in August, located between Target and Macy’s. The Art of Shaving offers quality-shaving products for men.

chipotleChipotle unveiled a new 645-square-foot location on July 6 in the food court. Chipotle is a Mexican Grill specializing in burritos and tacos.

Garage opened a 3,800-square-foot store in June located just outside of the food court. Garage is a clothing store for teenage girls containing trendy apparel, swimwear, accessories, and more.

Kiehl’s, established in 1851 as a single pharmacy in New York, will open a new 925-square-foot location between Target and Macy’s in August. Kiehl’s is an American cosmetics brand that specializes in making premium skin, hair, and body care products for men and women.

villaVilla, Join the Movement will open a new, 3,842-square-foot store between Target and Macy’s in the fall. Villa is a unique clothing retailer that fuses the best of fashion and music into a high-energy shopping experience. Join the Movement is Villa’s initiative to revitalize the urban community around us through community service, educational initiatives, anti-violence programs and economic investment.

Expansions, renovations and new locations:

dqDairy Queen will open a new 579-square-foot location in the Target court this fall.

Kay Jewelers opened their newly renovated and remodeled 1,784-square-foot store in July. Kay Jewelers offers a wide selection of engagement rings, wedding rings, necklaces, bracelets, diamonds, gemstones, metals, watches and more.

Michael Kors will reopen a newly-expanded 2,255-square-foot store in late 2015. Michael Kors is a designer brand store containing classic clothing, handbags, shoes, accessories, and more.

pandoraPandora is currently remodeling their existing location and will reopen the 1,050-square-foot store in August. Pandora features a variety of necklaces, rings, customizable charm bracelets, and more.

Spencer’s Gifts is remodeling and will reopen the 2,138-square-foot store located between JCPenney and Target in this fall. Spencer’s offers novelty items, apparel and a selection of adult products.

AT&T will open a new 4,500-square-foot location between Target and JCPenney in late 2015. AT&T provides cell phones, data plans and tablets, as well as accessories and device technical assistance.

babearBuild-A-Bear Workshop, the make-your-own stuffed animal retail experience will open in August between Target and JCPenney. This 2,345-square-foot store allows kids of all ages to choose their new stuffed animal to personalize by adding unique sounds and dressing them in the latest fashions and accessories. Regardless of age, guests will enjoy this special place where they create memoires with their family and friends.
