Christiana Mall has been a work in progress since 2007, and in its latest phase of renovation, it’ll add a bunch of new retailers – from Kate Hudson’s Fabletics to the classic body products shop Kiehl’s – and will expand several stores by the end of this year.
There’s a reason Christiana Mall is a major shopping destination, aside from the perk of being tax-free: It now boasts 35,000 square feet of exterior restaurant space with five eateries, and the mall as a whole is about 1.3 million square feet, said Steve Chambliss, the mall’s senior general manager.
Big milestones for the mall include the food court opening in 2009, Target arriving in 2010, Nordstrom in 2011, and Cinemark and Cabela’s in 2014. With all of those additions, Chambliss said, the mall has seen significant increases in sales volume and number of shoppers. He estimated that 20 million shoppers visit Christiana Mall annually.
