Well, sort of. Widener Law, the First State’s only law school, changed its name today to Delaware Law School. The name change comes in a move to separate from the other Widener Law campus in Harrisburg, Pa., though the two schools will still be within Widener University.
The school’s new independence will allow for a full focus on Delaware and Delawareans, according to a school statement.
“Our Delaware students will be at the heart of everything we do,” said Dean Rod Smolla in the release.
It’s also a big day for Smolla, a nationally known teacher, scholar and lawyer, who became dean of Delaware Law School today.
