Passionate and talented chefs from around the country donned their aprons for Sunday’s Celebrity Chefs’ Brunch for Meals on Wheels Delaware. From Denver to Austin, from Rancho Palos Verdes to Charlotte, some two dozen award-winning chefs participated in the annual fundraiser. Hundreds of patrons filled the Hercules atrium and feasted on several delectable offerings, including breakfast tid-bits with biscuits, eggs and sauces, and more adventuresome lunch offerings such as candied smoked salmon, chowder gnocchi, and Granny smith apple raw almond streusel parfait with white rum, fresh mint, and a Chantilly cream.
While quality ingredients may seem to be the essence of success, their inspiration comes from the people who smile approvingly bite after bite. Asked what these chefs love most about their job, Francois Gagnon of Lunch Insolite in Montreal, Quebec replied, “Making people happy. Food is happiness.” And what does Chef Pierino Jermonti of Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes love most? “The creativity of putting flavors together and pleasing guests one at a time.”
