The promise of mouthwateringly decadent homemade chocolate sensations lured some 1,500 people to Kennett High School earlier this month for the Kennett Chocolate Lovers Festival. People paid $10 for admission (up from $5 last year) and received several chocolate tickets to redeem at any of the 240 entry tables. Salted caramel and mint infusion seemed to be popular with the chefs this year.
The United Way of Southern Chester County, which hosts the event, awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd place ribbons in five chocolate categories: brownies, cakes, candy, cookies and cupcakes. A sampling of the winners: Salted Caramel and Chocolate Shooters by Talula’s Table (professional category), Chocolicous Candy Cake by Alexander Wank (student), and Chocolate Peanut Butter Bomb Cupcakes by Kelly D’Andrade (amateur). The United Way of Southern Chester County was proud to raise $16,000 at this year’s festival.
