BBC Hosts Lions, Tigers, and Bears, Oh My!

The BBC Tavern was transformed into the Land of Oz earlier this month as cast members from the Delaware Children’s Theatre promoted their upcoming production “Welcome Back to Oz: Dorothy Meets the Patchwork Girl.” The guest bartending event at the popular Greenville eatery also helped the theatre raise funds for a large renovation project, which will include an exterior facelift of the historic theatre.

The Oz sequel will of course include Dorothy’s beloved canine. Incredibly, the theatre received faxed resumes from dog owners who felt their canines captured the true spirit of Toto. “Must work for treats. Fee non-negotiable. Must not be scared of tornadoes,” read the open casting call. The winner, “Pinki,” will be chasing rainbows in Oz along with the rest of the Welcome Back cast.

This is a show for everyone who loves the Wizard of Oz characters and wants to see more of them. It’s for everyone who wants to find out how the lion is faring with his courage and what the scarecrow is doing now that he has his brains. With Dorothy as our guide, we meet several new and beloved Baum characters like the Patchwork Doll, a rag doll come to life thanks to a magic potion. Inspiring, fun with lively new songs, this Oz sequel takes us all over the rainbow again, and the trip will be full of wonderful new adventures including a special surprise ending. Oz runs every Saturday and Sunday at 2 pm from March 7th to the 29th, with a special 7:30 pm performance on Friday, March 20.

  • Pinki is an amazing dog and has an incredible ability to touch the elderly in nursing homes and so many others on hospice or in hospitals. Her owner is an amazing guy for sharing Pinki and his time to bring some comfort to those who really need that.
