The Cancer Support Community of Delaware (CSC) hosted a clever pop-up food and wine event at Janssen’s Market last week that sold out more than two weeks prior to the party — a problem most non-profits would love to have! Partnering for a Purpose ~ Let’s Take a Bite out of Cancer included a seated 3-course dinner for 100 people, preceded by cocktails and hors d’oeuvres on Janssen’s patio. Janssen’s magnanimously allowed CSC to bring in all sorts of culinary and beverage partners for this signature event, including the husband and wife team of Merry Catanuto and William Hoffman of The House of William and Merry, who served a cold poached Scottish Salmon Nicoise, chef Dan Butler of Piccolina Toscana, who prepared fresh pasta ravioli filled with roasted duck, and Ryan German of Caffé Gelato, who created a mouth-watering Pumpkin Crème Brûlée with an Almond Lizy cookie and spiced caramel sauce. Guests were seated comfortably at two long farm tables inside the Market and were served a variety of wines with each course, courtesy of the Bouchaine Winery. CSC Donor Base Coordinator and Community Outreach Liaison Michele Harra, who planned the inaugural event with others from CSC, credits the generosity of Janssen’s, the other food and beverage partners, and the many sponsors for the success of the evening.
