Women Race for the Pink Ribbon

The fourth annual Women’s Race for the Pink Ribbon 5K brought more than 500 runners to the Wilmington Riverfront earlier this month. While breast cancer can strike both women and men, this fundraiser for the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition is open to female runners and walkers only. But the men in their lives still showed their support, serving up sparkling rose courtesy of Frank’s Wine to finishers.

  • You’re right, Susan, breast cancer does get the lion’s share of focus. As a member of the Races 2 Run team, I will say, though, that this is a race near and dear to Barb Kursh, and most of the folks/vendors involved either volunteer their services or take a significant cut on their usual rates. And that includes our friend Frank Pagliaro and his bubbly. It’s a fun race that raises money and awareness, and the R2R calendar does include many other races dedicated to other forms of cancer and chronic conditions.
