Gold at Delaware Special Olympics Summer Games

Special Olympics Delaware noted the 44th annual Summer Games this past weekend at the University of Delaware, where several olympic athletes earned medals, but all had fun! More than 800 athletes and united partners (peers without disabilities) competed at the event, which included many of the well-known and “new” summer Olympic games: aquatics, baseball, basketball, bocce, golf, powerlifting, softball, tennis, track and field, and triathlon. And more than 1,000 volunteers turned out for the event, which is sponsored by DuPont.

The public is invited to an olympic send off this Saturday, June 14th at 12 Noon at the U of D Bob Carpenter Center for Team Delaware, who will travel to the USA Special Olympics.
