Tennis pros and wide-eyed kids mixed it up in Rodney Square last week at the annual Tennis in the Streets event sponsored by the USPTA, the Delaware USTA, the Wilmington Department of Parks and Recreation, and the Rodney Street Tennis & Tutoring Association (RSTTA). More than 750 kids had their chance to volley and return with tennis volunteers and local pros who provided advice about stokes and footwork. Tennis nets were set up along Market Street in front of the Hotel DuPont just for the event. The event also included a DJ, moon bounce fun and free lunch. The purposed of the event is to expose youth to the sport of tennis and to identify a few who might be eligible to participate in the RSTTA summer-long program.
