Pitchers had more than one target at Piedmont Baseball and Softball’s 1st annual Family Fun Day on June 2nd in Hockessin. Several leaguers had an easy go it it at the dunk tank, and players on the field threw fast balls to familiar and unfamiliar opponents, as boys and girls played on a variety of teams in the all-day marathon. Family Fun Day also included a giant slide, an obstacle course, a moon bounce and and a movie outdoors. Kids and families made donations in order to participate. Proceeds will be directed to Piedmont’s capital improvements campaign and the Langseder Foundation for pediatric cancer research. The Piedmont Baseball program is the largest in the Wilmington area, with some 1,300 baseball and softball players and 500 volunteers. “We wanted to try something new this year that involved the kids themselves with our fundraising efforts,” said organizer Ken Ralston. “Folks had a tremendous time.”
