I’m often asked “What the heck is Ignite Wilmington? Should I go?” I’ve been lucky enough to help organize five Ignite Wilmingtons, and we are in the final countdown to our sixth Ignite this Wednesday November 30th at the Queen Theater.
The concept of Ignite Wilmington isn’t original. Ignite’s are held all over the globe, each with their own local flavor. The core premise is identical: a cast of speakers each get 5 minutes to present 20 slides, which are automatically advancing every 15 seconds. We try to get a range of speakers who can talk about what is going on around the area. Most talks are great, some aren’t, but all are 5 minutes long. Love em or hate em, you get them in 5 minute chunks. Mark Mobley has introduced every Ignite Wilmington speaker, and he always does a fantastic job!
This time we have a great lineup scheduled to take the stage. From NPR’s Liane Hansen to Delcastle’s Digital Media team, the speakers cover a bunch of topics that will make you laugh and get inspired at the same time. The common theme is that these speakers are passionate about the subject matter.
Liane Hansen – Invisible Woman
Dr. Vincent Schaller -Concussions—What you should know that could save a life
Brad Wason – Personal Brand
Catherine Dolan – Urban Promise
Adam Ruben – Please Don’t Beat Me Up
Rashmi Rangan – Learning why money matters
Ellen Rendle – Steppin’ Out … Under the Stars in Wilmington
The Illuminati JuiceBox – Delcastle AM/PM/DMs Film Competition
And you couldn’t find a better venue than the Queen Theater. The history of the building and its beautiful and respectful restoration simply add to the experience. All for only $5.
